Can't put it off any longer

The media world has morphed into a huge desert fraught with many dangerous hazards for anyone who dares to venture there. The owners of the No. 2 newspapers in Denver and Seattle are the latest to discover they've stepped into quicksand with the chance for rescue becoming more remote with each passing day.

Yes, there is a lot of handwringing going on, but some newspapers, The New York Times among them, that are actively pursuing transformation from newsrooms to online information centers. And they are looking for ways to reinvent themselves with new business models.

Newspapers as we know them today may well become history, but the appetite for news is even bigger today than it ever has been. News will survive, but in what form?
